Description
To launch digital fabrication trainings at Fab Lab Hub’s new job shop in the Santa Fe Business Incubator [SFBI], Forest Scientific founder John Martincic will join us for a CNC machining workshop on November 9, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
John has been especially generous over the past few years in his support of the international Fab Lab Network and continues that generosity in the American Southwest. The SFBI’s Archimedes Fab Lab is the proud recipient of a 4’ x 4’ Forest Scientific CNC machine that Fab Lab Hub will use in our Digital Badge certification program for New Collar Job training. John has decades of experience in CAD driven machinery and will teach how to get started using CNC equipment, plus tips and tricks from his extensive experience in the machine tool industry.
CNC – computer numerical control – machining has been around since MIT scientists and engineers hooked up a computer to a milling machine in the 1950’s. But the fun is just beginning. CNC machining today is an accurate, repeatable process for fabricating parts, prototypes, fixtures…actually, anything you can imagine. The CNC workshop will cover principles of CNC machining applicable to any brand machine, and John will expand upon topics such as machine tool path, designing fixtures, and rapid prototyping.
$20 fee to cover lunch and materials
